A Very Thankful Thanksgiving!

Hey all, Royce from The Bush League here. I don’t normally do these type of things on here but …with change comes growth! And for all that this band has been through this year and to be where we are now I personally can say that I am very thankful for a manager like Kenya Watkins who never once thought of stopping throughout all of the events that would have stopped many bands in their tracks. I am also very thankful for my best friend JohnJason Cecil (the front man of this outfit that your favorite front man wants to be …I said it!), he and I also share that ‘let’s see how far this can actually go!’ attitude that has lead to many of the ‘Whodathunkit?!!’ moments this year that we are very thankful for!
An example of one of the many ‘Whodathunkit?!!’ moments I’m talking about happened early in the year when we found out that we were accepted to play at this year’s North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic! Not two weeks after that Cedric Burnside, the grandson and drummer for Hill Country Blues legend R. L. Burnside agreed to play the festival with us after Kenya, Jay & I went to Roanoke to see him play and ask him! Whodathunkit?!!! That entire weekend of the 2014 NMHCP was amazing! Jay and I camped out and met and hung with some of the most awesome people on that camp ground! Eating a pulled pork sandwich cooked in some foil on a grill in a thunderstorm will be a memory not to be forgotten any time soon! Also meeting and talking with all of the artists around that stage that weekend was mind blowing, especially on that Saturday night when the festival became rained out and the huddled mass on the stage was a who’s who of Mississippi Blues’ finest representatives and us! But being there with Cedric Burnside drumming behind us for that one day on that stage was one of the most awesome moments of my musical career so far! Thank You Cedric Burnside for very quickly saying yes when we asked!!!
I can say that I am very thankful for our new members Brad Moss, Michael Burgess and Wynton Davis for bringing a youthful energy and a yearning for learning the life of expressing the blues that it’s changed the band’s whole career path! We are now participants in the 2015 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee from Jan 20th – 24th representing the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society! It was out third gig together and we knew very early on that this was a direction that we had to go to get THIS version of The Bush League the attention that it needs to get, and what better place than the largest yearly gathering of blues musicians from around the world! Brad, Michael, Wynton, thank You guys for just being the awesome people and musicians that you are and therefore pushing this band to be the best that we all can be and nothing less!
I am very thankful for the family, close friends and co-workers of all of us in the band who are understanding of the sacrifices that we all have to make to make this happen and give support of all types (moral, monetary, spiritual and understanding) and without your positive support none of this would be possible; Thank You!!!
I am thankful for all of he people that have been with us and enjoyed our music throughout all of our many changes through the years (and a huge thank You to all of the past members who helped lay the track that were rolling on!) up through those that are just discovering us now to those that are going to read this in the future after finding out about us thinking ‘Where have these guys been my whole life?!’; we thank ALL of You for picking up what we’re putting down and digging on it a little bit! Tell a friend, share the love!
And lastly; but not leastly, whoever is reading this right now that doesn’t fit into any of the people that I’ve thanked above! This is a long message and the fact that you’ve made it this far means that you have some sort of interest in us and we thank you for at least making our page hits go up! You rock, thank You!!!

Merry Thanksgiving Everybody!!!
Royce, Bass;
The Bush League.
